A Russian police chief took $29,000 in bribes from gambling den operators, say prosecutors in the city of Samara.
The Samara District Court has ordered the suspect, identified as Korkin, to remain in custody until July 4 for a court hearing, as reported by the Russian media outlet Samarskaya Gazeta.
The deputy head of the police is accused of accepting protection money from illegal casinos, according to the prosecutors.
