Lawmakers want Russian casinos to pay heavy fines if they let gambling addicts who have added their names to the country’s new “self-prohibition” registry place bets.
The State Duma, Russia’s lower parliamentary house, passed a bill mandating fines during a plenary session on July 8, as reported by the Russian Parliamentary Gazette. The proposed legislation aims to penalize casinos that allow individuals on the self-prohibition list to gamble, with fines reaching $6,500.
The bill is part of efforts to address problem gambling in the country and ensure that casinos adhere to responsible gaming practices. Casinos found in violation of the regulations could face significant financial penalties, highlighting the government's commitment to curbing gambling-related harm.
