The National Football League has urged the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to strengthen proposed prediction market regulations, warning that the framework does not adequately address manipulation, insider trading and consumer risks tied to sports contracts.
In a letter dated July 27 addressed to CFTC Chairman Michael Selig, NFL Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs Brendon Plack emphasized the need for tighter regulations in the prediction market sector. Plack highlighted concerns regarding the current framework's limitations in addressing issues such as manipulation, insider trading, and risks to consumers associated with sports contracts.
The NFL's push for enhanced regulations aligns with efforts to ensure the integrity and transparency of sports prediction markets, aiming to mitigate potential risks and safeguard the interests of stakeholders involved in these markets.
