Minnesota Judge Blocks Utility from Disconnecting Power to Upper Sioux

Administrative Law Judge Joseph Meyer ruled that the Minnesota Valley Cooperative Light and Power Association may not disconnect power to the Prairie’s Edge Casino Resort.

Administrative Law Judge Joseph Meyer ruled that the Minnesota Valley Cooperative Light and Power Association may not disconnect power to the Prairie’s Edge Casino Resort.

The cooperative wanted to do so to punish the Upper Sioux Community, the owner of the casino, for building a solar array without the cooperative’s consent. The judge's ruling prevents the utility from cutting off power to the casino, ensuring its operations continue smoothly. The dispute arose from the casino's decision to generate its electricity independently.
