Online casino usage is becoming rampant in Japan, despite recent high-profile crackdowns and harsher punishments for gamblers and operators.
According to a recent study by the Japanese anti-gambling NGO, the Society Concerned About Gambling Addiction (SCGA), online casino usage is on the rise in Japan. The SCGA, which offers counseling for gambling addicts, interviewed over 460 individuals to compile their findings.
The study revealed that Japanese online casino users are accumulating significant debt, with the average debt per user reaching $69,000. This comes amidst increased efforts to combat problem gambling in the country.
