The Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office in Batam Province, Galih Kartika Perdhana, confirmed the deportations were carried out based on an official request from Chinese authorities. The deportations were part of a crackdown on illegal online gambling activities in the region.

The Indonesian government has been actively cooperating with Chinese authorities to tackle cross-border crimes, including those related to online gambling. The move to deport the 92 Chinese citizens highlights the joint efforts to combat illicit activities in the gambling and investment sectors.
