Chinese police have reported a sharp uptick in illegal gambling on a high-speed version of the classic tile game mahjong.
Authorities in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, issued a public warning following the crackdown on 16 suspected gambling dens specializing in the new game variant called zhuanzhuan mahjong. The police operation resulted in the arrest of 204 suspected gamblers.
