The American Gaming Association has urged Congress to prevent prediction market platforms from offering nationwide sports betting through contracts regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
During a Senate Agriculture subcommittee hearing, AGA Senior Vice President of Government Relations Christopher Cylke emphasized the need to curb platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket, which operate using federal event-contract regulations overseen by the CFTC. The AGA is advocating for measures to limit the scope of prediction markets to ensure they do not encroach on the legal sports betting market.
